Android: Is there a way to prevent screen from sleeping during program execution?
In Android we have power/sleep modes. When the device is in screen-on mode, the screen will be on and is displaying content. When the device is in low-power mode, the screen will be turned off and is only saving battery.
Is there a way to make the screen NOT turn off when the app is executing? If not, is there any disadvantage in having the screen turned off?
Is there any disadvantage in having the screen turned off?
Sure. It's not like the screen is infinite. And some parts of an app (e.g., a bound thread, high-priority timer, etc.) cannot tolerate being in the middle of a sleep period.
US President Donald Trump set off a new firestorm in Israel on Monday when he criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for supporting a two-state solution in principle. Netanyahu initially condemned Trump’s statement, saying it was “wrong and unhelpful” before later walking back his harsh words.
“I think that President Trump has been very dishonest in his description of the two-state solution. Any two-state solution has to have Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in it," Netanyahu said in a statement released on Monday. “Jerusalem is, of course, Jewish. But the peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians has to be, a peace deal has to be, based on the notion of a united Jerusalem. So, Jerusalem can’t be divided.”
Trump, on the other hand, issued a tweet on Saturday, saying that “while a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict is what most people would like to see, it is perhaps unrealistic to expect that one will soon happen.”
“There is no quarrel between the United States and Israel in our desire to support a peace treaty between the two parties,” Trump said. “It is only in our dispute over the details of this agreement that we seem to differ."
